Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)

This course was formerly titled Web Development with Cascading Style Sheets. In this course, students will learn how to use Cascading Style Sheets to enhance the visual presentation of Web pages by separating web content and formatting. Topics covered include applying CLASS and ID selectors to customize styles; using the DIV element to apply styles; creating external, embedded, and inline styles and learning when to use them; learning the rules of the cascade; styling text with typographical properties, including aligning and indenting text, controlling the spacing of lines and characters, and modifying other text characteristics; working with fonts; controlling text and background colors; and controlling margins, borders, and padding of page elements. The MSU Web Site Starter Kit will also be introduced.

Prerequisites: XHTML & CSS Web Authoring, or equivalent knowledge.

Fees: $426.20 for faculty and staff. $354.10 for students. $527.00 for all others.
